Wow, hard disk prices are complete nonsense now. When I last upgraded my NAS' storage, I bought three 4 TB disks. That was just over 11 years ago. The exact same model is still for sale and costs about twice as much.

Yes, and for the same reason that SSD, RAM, and GPU prices have become nonsense.
@dougmerritt @david_chisnall welcome to the end of Moore's Law (and that other one about storage whose name I forgot) at the exact moment when the entire industry has gone nuts over doing absolutely everything the most inefficient way possible...
When I bought these, 6TB was quite expensive and 8TB was massively expensive. Now, 32 TB has about the same price per TB as 4 TB (slightly lower).
The technology has kept improving.
