Okay this has provoked a lot of tributary conversations which are giving me an hypothesis.

For the purposes of this poll, typing “fast” means reliably more than 100 words per minute, and “liking” LLMs means that you personally interact with and use their output voluntarily, even if you maybe still have a lot of reservations about the ethics or safety of doing so.

Boosts on this would be much appreciated, particularly to get it in front of some more folks who *do* like LLMs; my followers are probably weighted pretty hard in a particular direction :)

@modulux @glyph what surprises me is the number of fast typers. Over half of the responses do 100 WPM or more. I just did a test and only did 87 WPM, and I don't know so many people who type noticeably faster than me.

(This keyboard is not great, but I think I've never tested over 100 WPM, 90+ is my max.)

@coder @glyph It's been a long time since I tested. Maybe I can't do >100 anymore. I started typing very little, around 7 or 8. But I may be slowing down with age.

@glyph @modulux I know people with training can come close to 200 WPM, but I don't see so many of those lately...

@coder I did not actually test my typing speed, I just voted "I type fast" because I know I type faster than most and was never limited by typing speed ^^" I guess many people did the same despite the number stated in the question.

@coder @glyph @modulux I voted before i read the 100wpm. I am probably more like 85-90 too but haven't done a typing test for years. doubt I'm the sole contributor to over-reporting.
